Happy Leap Month! February may be the shortest month, but there’s still plenty to do.
Here are the events on our calendar in Louisville in February
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 2ND
“Brahms the Magnificent” – Glorious Music for the Soul
This is a free event by the Louisville Civic Orchestra, featuring two guest soloists.
Wed. 1/31/24, 7pm @ Bellarmine University’s Cralle Theater and Sat. 2/3/24, 3pm @ Springdale Presbyterian Church
SUNDAY FEBRUARY 4TH AND SUNDAY FEBRUARY 11TH
I’m excited to check out this documentary on Lousiville’s Eastern Cemetery, one of the most over buried cemeteries in the United States. I heard on a podcast that Eastern Cemetery is about 1/10 the size of neighboring Cave Hill Cemetery, but it’s estimated the same amount of bodies are buried in both!
VARIOUS DATES
2024 Oscar Nominated Short Films
I’m looking forward to catching a few of these before the Oscars air on March 10th. There are different showings for live-action short films, animated short films, and documentary shorts. Fair warning: These short films always seem to be really heavy (even the animated ones), so you may want to take some tissues with you.
FEBRUARY 19 THROUGH 25
I’m looking forward to trying a few new restaurants, and maybe checking out a few restaurant specials for some favorite restaurants.
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 23
The Filson Goes Back to the 80s
This looks like an event that would have the BEST people watching.
TUESDAY FEBRUARY 27
The Moth StorySlam: Love Hurts
The Moth has been one of my favorite podcasts forever! I went to a live event a few years back, and it was a ton of fun.
SATURDAY FEBRUARY 24 THROUGH SUNDAY FEBRUARY 25
USA Gymnastics’ 2024 Winter Cup
Looking forward to heading to this with a few gals to catch Suni Lee and Gabby Douglas in person at the Kentucky International Convention Center. Who else is excited about the Olympics this summer?
THURSDAY FEBRUARY 29
Leap Day Marathon of Fun at West 6th NuLu
Leap Day is such a fun reason to celebrate and meet up with friends for a few drinks. Fun Fact: I had a friend at summer camp when I was kid who was born on leap day, and because she technically only has a birthday every four years, she’ll be turning TEN this year.
